Solving parking problems for a large retail centre, near Auckland

This Retail Centre is located in the heart of a busy town centre and near a popular beach.  In April 2021, the retail centre was approached by Smart Compliance Management and offered a more technology-based solution for monitoring their precious car parking spaces.  This replaced outdated and expensive wardens who had previously tried to manage cars that overstayed by manually putting Parking Breach Notices on the car windscreens. 

By offering ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) technology to the centre, for no upfront cost, Smart Compliance Management could successfully manage:

• The 90-minute requested time limit
• A whitelist for staff vehicles
• A method for logging one-off delivery and trade vehicles when they genuinely needed to stay longer

This prevented the abuse previously seen by all-day parking from those who planned a ‘day at the beach’. The benefit was that genuine retail park customers had a parking space when they visited the site to shop.
